Simant Poojan is a ceremony in Maharashtrian wedding where Groom and his family is welcomed by the Bride' relatives at the limits of the bride' home.  Bride' mother does groom' pooja by cleaning groom' feet, applying kumkum tila, doing an arti and giving gifts and sweets to him.  Groom' mother also gives gifts like a saree and sweets to the bride and bride' relatives. Basically, this a welcome cermony when the groom arrives at the bride' place on a marriage day.
